Cathleen was a Taos-based, nationally Certified Academic Language Therapist (ALTA), trained by Sandra Dillon; author of Sounds in Syllables and founder of MLTI-NM, an IMSLEC-accredited program.

She served on the board of the Southwest Branch of the International Dyslexia Association (SWIDA) from 1997 to 2015 and received its Distinguished Service Award in 2005. Over twenty-five years in private practice and in schools, she shared her expertise in the structure of the English language and Multisensory Structured Language Therapy with classroom teachers and clients of all ages.

  • The Cathleen Tomlinson Scholarship provides tuition support for dyslexia therapist training at an IMSLECaccredited institution.
  • Residents of the SWIDA region pursuing Therapy Level training are eligible to apply before beginning training. Priority goes to Taos County residents.
  • Partial scholarships are awarded semi-annually. Applicants may reapply, with priority given to those advancing through training.

Disbursement. Funds are released once the course instructor verifies in writing that the trainee has completed the course.
